DHS uses Lennox engineered HVAC systems and vented fireplaces. All duct work is insulated. This keeps the system quiet and efficient. No more lying in bed hearing bangs and air swoosh’s from the heating and air conditioning system!!! The fireplaces are airtight only emitting warmth into the home instead of robbing heat up the chimney. They even work to heat the home during power outages as a back up.
The kitchen appliances and most of the lighting fixtures and exhaust fans are Energy Star rated for efficient electrical consumption. The garage doors have DC motors and hardware for quiet efficient operation.
Insulation is blown in the ceiling to an R-50 rating instead of the usual R-30. Wall insulation yields an R-22 rating instead of R-11. This extra heavy insulation also contributes to decreasing exterior noise from entering the home.
DHS only uses casement or double hung windows that have low E insulated glass. Similar homes use lesser value single hung windows which can’t be completely tilted in to clean. DHS double hung windows have all sashes’ that tilt into the house for easy cleaning of the whole window. In addition DHS uses sill sealer on all windows and doors, along with taping the exterior tyvek house wrap around the perimeter, to seal out any air infiltration while letting the house expel harmful moisture.
